Topic:
I have some information that needs to be displayed in rows and columns in my HTML page. How do I insert a table so that my information will be formatted correctly?
Solution:
In any field in your event that has a Content Editor (look for the small icon to the right of the field), you can create an HTML table. A table is used to format information into rows and columns similar to the data in a spreadsheet, such as an Excel file.
To insert a table into your form:
- Click on the Content Editor icon for the field where you want to insert the table.
- Click the Table icon (it looks like a grid, just to the right of the Copyright symbol). You will see a grid representing the number of rows and columns that will be created in your table.
- If you know the exact number of rows/columns you’d like, roll to that cell and click.
- If you’d like to add specific formatting to your table, click the Table Wizard button. The Table Wizard window displays.
Table Design tab –
- Click the + sign next to Columns to add more columns to your table; click + next to Rows (along the right edge of the table) to add more rows.
- If you’d like to create a header or title for your table, you can use the Column Span to “merge” two or more horizontal cells together.
- If you need to add vertical text, you can use the Row Span to “merge” vertical cells.
Table Properties tab -
- Dimensions – if you’d like a particular height and/or width in pixels or percentage of window width, enter the sizes here
- Layout – table background color, spacing, etc.
- Border – click the specific border(s) you want for your table
Cell Properties tab -
- Enter the alignment, color, and dimensions for each cell if appropriate.
Accessibility tab –
- Enter any 508 considerations such as captions here.
- When you’ve finished with your entries, click OK to insert your table. A dashed set of lines will display on the page.
- Enter your text in the cells of the table as needed.
- When you’ve finished entering all text in the Content Editor, save your changes.
