    What are the various payment methods available in RegOnline and how do they work?

    Solution:

    There are essentially two types of payment methods available to use on your registration forms:

    1. Online Payment Methods - Credit Card payments automatically processed and recorded online through a Merchant Gateway.

    • Online Payments are automatically recorded on the attendee's record once they have been processed and verfied.
    • You will need to have Merchant Gateway setup to process online credit card payments. More info...
    • PayPal can also be used to process an online payment using Express Checkout. Show me how...

    2. Other (offline) Payment Methods - Payments that are sent to you by registrants and must then be entered into the registrants' records manually once they have been received.

      • Checks
      • Purchase Orders - RegOnline does not collect any P.O. information from registrants during registration.
      • Cash
      • Pay at the event
      • Cost Center - RegOnline does not collect any Cost Center information from registrants during registration.
      • Wire Transfer - RegOnline does not collect any banking information for wire transfers from your registrants. You will to arrange wire transfers with your registrants directly when using this payment method.
      • Custom Payment Method - This option allows you to set up your own offline payment method and include a text field for them to include a number or other information. More info...

    When a registrant selects one of these "Other Payment Methods" on the Checkout page, RegOnline will simply record the payment method on the attendee's record. However they will still have an outstanding balance until you record the payment (once you have received it) on the attendee's record. Once their payment has been received and recorded, then their balance should be balanced with a $0 total.
