What happens to my attendees’ credit card data after my event is over?

    Topic:

What happens to my attendees’ credit card data after my event is over?

    Solution:

Because of RegOnline’s compliance with PCI data security (see Additional Information below), RegOnline automatically deletes all credit card numbers (except the last four digits) either:

    • 90 days after the event end date, or
    • 120 days after date of the transaction, if there is no event end date specified.*

In order to process any online credit card transactions after this period, you will need to either:

    • Contact the registrant to retrieve their credit card information, or
    • Process a check refund and mail it to them.

    Additional Information:

    * If you are using the Authorize.net gateway, refunds cannot be processed after 90 days after the initial charge.  You will need to issue the refund by check.

    About PCI

The Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard was created by major credit card companies to safeguard customer information. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and other credit card associations mandate that merchants and service providers meet certain minimum standards of security when they store, process and transmit cardholder data.
