Topic:
I’m creating a new Agenda Item / Fee (or Custom Field). In the Type field there is a choice called a Section Header. What is this used for?
Solution:
The Section Header field type allows you to display information -- a schedule, link, date heading, etc. – on your web page / registration form. Use this field type when you don’t require the user to input any data, such as checking a box or making a selection.
For example, suppose you will be requiring your attendees to make their own hotel reservations. You could create a Custom Field on the Lodging / Travel page to inform the attendee to contact the hotel directly to make their reservation. In this case, use the field type of Section Header, since this field is just providing information to the attendee.
Additional Information:
- Section Headers do not appear on the attendees registration confirmation (or record) after they have registered. Nor do they appear on the Printable Schedule.
- In this example you may NOT want to include a link directly to the hotel's reservation site as this may direct the registrant away from your registration form. There is a chance that the registrant may not come back to finish their online registration or the system may time them out due to inactivity and they will have to register again.
- One suggestion is to provide the hotel reservation information in the Confirmation Email or on the Confirmation Page instead so that they will receive the information after they have completed their registration.
- Example: Hotel reservations are being taken directly by the Drake Hotel. You can make your reservation online or call them at 800/555-1212.
