Topic:
Setting up a Beanstream gateway
Solution:
If you do not already have a Beanstream merchant account gateway you can set one up by contacting Beanstream's customer support team at 250/472-2326. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Beanstream processes credit card transactions for Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, and Discover cards - the same card types supported by RegOnline. For pricing information and other account setup details, please contact Beanstream support.
Once your Beanstream gateway has been set up, RegOnline will need the following information:
- Beanstream Merchant ID number - this is required and validated with Beanstream
- Beanstream Login - the login name for your account
- Beanstream Password - the password you use to log in to this account
- Statement Name - This should match the credit card statement name that you have entered in your Beanstream Merchant Gateway account.
- If you wish to change the name that appears on your registrants' credit card statements, then you will want to change the name in your Merchant Gateway Account and here in RegOnline.
- Base Currency - US dollars (USD) or Canadian dollars (CAD)
- Credit Card Types - The credit card types (Visa, Amex, etc.) that your Beanstream gateway is set up to process.
You can submit this information to merchantinfo@Regonline.com, along with the RegOnline customer number(s) that you wish to connect to this gateway. We will enter this information into your RegOnline account and contact you when the setup is complete. Once this is done and tested, all of your RegOnline events can use the same Beanstream account to process online credit card transactions.
Additional Information:
Fees:
- There are no account setup fees and no monthly charges.
- There is a 0.95% transaction fee for all online credit card transactions.
- This fee will be billed to you by RegOnline in addition to any fees billed to you by Beanstream.
- These fees are valid for any gateway setup after September 26th, 2008. For older gateways, contact your sales representative for pricing information.
RegOnline considerations -
In order for your RegOnline event to work with your Beanstream account:
- The Work Phone and Country fields are required by Beanstream, so you'll need to set these fields to Required in your event setup. To do so, go to the Attendee Info tab and confirm that the box in the Required column is checked.
- The Beanstream gateway processes only Visa, MasterCard, and American Express, so you'll need to confirm that those are the only three credit card types you have selected in your event setup. To do so, go to the Checkout page and confirm that the boxes for these card types are checked.
- If you want to accept American Express in your event, you'll need to discuss this with Beanstream.
- Your event must be set to Active status to use the Beanstream test credit card number (below).
- If you want to use Canadian dollars as your base currency, please
advise the RegOnline Tech Support team.
When using a Beanstream account, you are unable to process credit card refunds in RegOnline.
Beanstream considerations -
To process a test transaction using the Beanstream test credit card:
- Use the following test credit card number to process a test transaction through your Beanstream account (virtual terminal) -
- VISA 4030000010001234
- Use any expiration date in the future, and any name.
NOTE: This number will only work while your Beanstream account is in ‘test’ mode. Once your Beanstream account has been switched to Live, you will not be able to conduct any further test transaction runs.
- After verifying that the test transactions have arrived in your Beanstream account, send Beanstream an email (support@beanstream.com) requesting that your account mode be changed to Live before processing your first real charge. If this is not done, your credit card charge will be declined.
- Beanstream will not be able to put Live accounts back into Test mode.
