Can I copy and paste my content from Microsoft Word into the Content Editor?

    Topic:

I’m adding information to my event using the HTML Content Editor. Can I copy and paste my text from Microsoft Word?

    Solution:

You can copy/paste content from Word, but we do not recommend it as a lot of extra code is generated (by Word) that might cause formatting or display issues when the content is viewed in a browser. While the steps below are designed to help remove the extra, problematic code, we cannot guarantee the stability of any content copied from a Word document.

To copy your Word content into the Content Editor without the extra formatting:

    1. Just highlight and copy your text from Word
    2. In the HTML Content Editor click the Paste from Word icon from the tool bar. This will paste your word content into the Editor without the extra formatting code.
      • Images can not be copy/pasted into the HTML Content Editor. You will need to upload the image using the Image Manager. More info...
      • Tables may not copy into the HTML Content Editor properly. You may need to create the table manually and copy/paste the content into each cell. More info...
        • Click Save & Close to save your changes and exit the Content Editor window.

      Additional Information:

Here are some additional ways to copy/paste content into the HTML Content Editor.

        • You can also use this icon to paste content from Word. This funtion removes the font and size formatting when the content is copied & pasted. This will allow you to specify the font and size you’d like to use after the content is copied into the HTML Content Editor.

        • Often the content is not formatted properly when copied from Word due to redundant HTML code generated by Word. In these cases you can use the Format Stripper tool to try to clean up the content by removing the extra formatting, as well as Style Sheets (web formatting code), Span tags (used to group elements of web code), and more.

To use the Format Stripper tool:

          1. In the Content Editor, click on the Format Stripper icon
          2. From the dropdown menu, click Microsoft Word Formatting. You may not see any change to your content, but the extra code will be removed from your content.
          3. Click Save & Close to save and exit the Content Editor.

        • If your content still does not paste into the HTML Content Editor properly (the formatting does not translate into HTML correctly), then you can also paste your content into the HTML Content Editor as plain text (removing all formatting) and format the content manually. In the Content Editor, simply click the icon to paste as plain text.
