How does the Tell-A-Friend feature work and how do I enable it for my event?
Solution:
The Tell-A-Friend feature enables your registrants to send an invitation to their acquaintances to register for your event online. This simple marketing feature can help you spread the word about your event resulting in an increased number of registrants through word-of-mouth.
The Tell-A-Friend feature can be enabled in the following locations for your event:
- The Event Website
- The Confirmation page
- In your Confirmation or Reminder emails
To enable this feature on your Event Website:
- Edit your event and click on the Event Website tab.
- In the Features section on the Summary tab, click on the Edit link. The Site Features window will open.
- Select the checkbox to Include tell a friend link.
- Click Save & Close.
To enable this feature on the Confirmation page:
- Edit your event and click on the Registration Form Pages tab and then the Confirmation page.
- Select the checkbox to Show tell-a-friend feature.
- Save your changes.
To add a Tell-A-Friend link to your Confirmation, Reminder, or other email:
- Locate and edit the desired email to open the HTML Content Editor.
- Place your cursor in the location that you want the Tell-A-Friend link to appear.
- Select Tell-a-friend from the Other Merge dropdown menu on the tool bar.
- Save your changes.
Additional Information:
- The contents of the Tell-A-Friend email sent to potential registrants is standard text with a link back to your online registration form. Registrants sending the Tell-A-Friend email will be given the opportunity to send a personal message along with the link to your event.
- When someone registers for your event from a link in a Tell-A-Friend email, then they are listed in the RegMail Master List with the type called "Referral". More info on the Master List...
