I'll need to ask my attendees to upload a document (such as a bio, resume/CV, summary of qualifications, etc.) with their registration. How do I set that up?
Solution:
You can create a field that your attendees can use to upload a file or document. They will see a button titled Upload on the registration form, which they can then click, browse to the file on their computer, and upload it as part of their registration record.
You have the option to add this field on the Personal Information, Agenda, or Lodging & Travel pages of your registration.
To get started
- Edit your Event
- Click on the Registration Form Pages tab and then either the corresponding page where you want to add this field.
To create this question on your Agenda page:
- Click the Add a New Agenda Item / Fee link. The Define Agenda Item / Fee window displays.
- Make the following entries:
- Field Type - File Upload
- Question/Description - These are the instructions to registrants that display on the registration form.
- Example: "Please click on the Upload button below to upload your document"
- Title on receipt/invoice - The text entered here displays above response on registrants' records and their invoices/receipts.
- Example: "Registrant Bio" or "Uploaded document"
- Column name on reports - This is name of the field that displays on your reports.
- Example: "Registrant Bio" or "Uploaded document"
- Which types of registrants can see this question? (if applicable) - Select which of your Registrant Types should see this question and whether they should be required to complete it
- Save your changes.
To create this question on your Personal Information or Lodging & Travel page (as a Custom Field):
- Navigate to the page that you want this field/question to display to registrants.
- Scroll down to the Custom Fields section and click the Add a New Custom Field link. The Define Custom Field window displays.
- Make the required entries using the same guidelines listed above.
- Save your changes.
Additional Information:
- The File Upload field type allows the attendee to upload a document, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, text, or image file to their registration record.
- Valid field types for upload are .doc, .xls, .ppt, .pdf, .txt, .csv, .jpg, and .gif files.
- While there isn't a maximum file size allowed for upload, larger files are slower to upload and tend to make the registrant feel as though their upload didn't complete properly. RegOnline's suggestion is to encourage your attendees to keep all uploads under 10MB file size.
