Topic:
How do I create a multiple choice question for a Custom Field or an Agenda Item / Fee?
Solution:
To add a new multiple choice item to your event, follow the steps outlined below. Although these instructions are outlined specifically for an Agenda Item, they are the same steps for creating a custom field on the Personal Information or Lodging & Travel pages.
To create a multiple choice Agenda Item / Fee:
- Edit your Event
- Click on the Registration Form Pages tab and then the Agenda page
- Click the Add a New Agenda Item link. The Define Agenda Item / Fee window displays.
- In the General section of this page, make the following entries:
- Field Type (required) - Multiple Choice (Dropdown List) or Multiple Choice (Radio Buttons).
- When one of these two options is selected, a new link displays at the bottom of this section titled "Add a New Multiple Choice Item".
- Question/Description (required) - Instructions for registrants (displays on the registratioin form pages).
- Example: "Please select from the list below"
- Title on receipt/invoice (required) - Displays above multi-choice selection on registrants' records or invoice/receipt .
- Column name on reports (required) - The field name that displays on your reports for this item.
- Click the Add a New Multiple Choice Item link. The Multiple Choice Item window displays.
- Make the following entries:
- Field Name (required)- Displays on your reports when this item is selected.
- Item Description (required)- Displays on the Registration form pages and on the registrants' records. (In most cases, the Field Name and Item Description for a Multiple Choice Item will be the same.)
- Amount (optional) - If needed, enter an Amount for this item.
- Note: Any price entered in this field will override the price set on the Agenda Item / Fee or in the Pricing Options for this item.
- Limit (optional) - Enter the limit that you have available for this item.
- Note: You can not enable waitlisting on multiple choice item selections. If you need automatic waitlisting for these items, then you should set them up as individual Check Box items that are grouped together using the Group Name feature instead of multiple-choice items.
- See the related links below for assistance with automatic waitlisting.
- Visible - Be sure that the Visible box is checked if you would like this item displayed on your form.
- Click Save & Close to save your changes and return to the Define Agenda Item / Fee window.
- Repeat these steps for each multiple choice item.
- Save your changes when finished.
To create a multiple choice question in a Custom Field:
-
Go to the Personal Information page (or Lodging & Travel page)
-
Click the Add a New Custom Field link. The Define Custom Field window displays, and the fields are very similar to those outlined above.
-
Follow the steps outlined above to create a multiple choice Custom Field.
