    How do I allow registrants to provide me with numerical choices from a list of items?


    Topic:

    My Event will have a number of selections, and I'll need to allow my attendees to make a numerical entry for the first, second, third, etc., choices from the list. How do I set this up?

    Solution:

    You can create a list of items on the Agenda page (or as Custom Fields on the Personal Information or Lodging & Travel pages) that provide a text field where your registrants can enter in their preference.

    1. Edit your Event and click on the Registration Form Pages tab and then the Agenda page.
    2. Click the link to Add Agenda Item.  This will open the Agenda Item Properties panel..
    3. This first Agenda item will simply give instructions to registrants. 
      • Name on Form - Type your instructions in this section.
        • Example: "Please type 'First', 'Second', or 'Third' below for your top three choices in order of preference."
      • Name on Receipt - Displays on registrants' records above their final selections.
        • Example: "Choice preferences."
      • Name on Reports- Enter a generic Field Name - like "Choice Instructions".
      • Field Type - Select "Section Header"
      • Visible / Required - select the proper visibility for the Registration Types who are to see and answer this item.
    4. Save your changes. .
    5. Click the Add Agenda Item link again.  This will open the Agenda Item Properties panel again.
    6. This Agenda Item will be the first item in your list. 
        Name on Form
      • - Type the name of your first item
        • Example: "Workshop 1 preference."
      • Name on Receipt - Displays on registrants' records above their final selections.
        • Example: "Workshop 1 preference."
      • Name on Reports - Enter a specific Field Name - like "Workshop 1".
      • Field Type - 1-Line Text
      • Visible / Required- select the proper visibility for the Registration Types who are to see and answer this item.
      • Click on the Advanced section and clear the checkbox for the Separator Line if there will be more items below this.
    7. Save your changes.
    8. Repeat step 7 for each option you want included in your list and save your changes.

    If you wish for them to enter a numeric value instead of a word (such as "2" instead of "Second"), then be sure to modify your instructions and change the Field Type for your items to "Number".
