I’d like to set up my event so that the name of the event is what displays on my attendees’ credit card statements. Can I do that?
Solution:
The answer to that question depends on the merchant account that you are using for the event:
- If you are using the RegOnline Merchant Gateway, then yes you can! See the instructions below.
- If you are using any other merchant gateway, then the description on the credit card statement for all of your attendees must be the standard description you requested when the merchant account was set up. See the Additional Information section below for details.
If you’re using the RegOnline Merchant Gateway, then you can enter a custom description for your event using the following steps:
- Edit your event and click on the Checkout page.
- In the Credit Card Processing Options section, make the following entries:
- Merchant Account – confirm that the entry here is the RegOnline Merchant Gateway or Account
- Description on Credit Card Statement – Enter the exact text to display on your attendees’ credit card statements in the Description on Credit Card Statement field.
- Save your changes when finished.
Now when your attendees who pay by credit card receive their monthly statement, the Description column displays the text you entered above.
Additional Information:
RegOnline does not have the ability to specify a custom description on attendees’ credit card statements for all of our supported gateways (see the Related Links below for a complete list) other than the RegOnline Merchant Gateway. This is not due to a limitation in RegOnline, but is because the merchant accounts do not have the ability to accommodate a custom description for each event that you create.
