How do I add a Click to Register button to my email content?

    Topic:

I would like to add a "Click to Register" or "Sign Up Now" button to my email content.  How do I do this?

    Solution:

Step 1 - Generate the HTML code (web code) for your button or link:

To add a button to an HTML email that links the user to your registration page, you’ll first need to have a button or other small image to use. RegOnline has dozens of buttons available in the Button Designer section, located on the Functions Tab in the Manager screen, for that purpose.

The Button Designer tool will allow you to select from some of the following button options and customize the text on each button or link:

    • Button - This option will provide you with various button images that link out to your Registration form or Event Webiste.

    • Flash Widget - This option creates a Flash image or button that displays the event title, location, start date, and number of days until the event start date.

    • Text - This option creates a hyperlink in text format that will take registrants out to your registration form or event website.

This will give you the HTML code that you can copy/paste into your email content.

    • See the Related Links below for further assistance with the Button Designer tool.
If you’d like to use your own icon or button for this purpose, you’ll need to create it and add the web code that links this icon to your event’s registration page.

Step 2 - Add the HTML code to your email content:

    1. In the Manager window, click RegMail from the folder list on the left
    2. Click the Content section, and open the content where you’d like to insert the button.
      • If you have not yet created the content, click the Create New Email Content button.
    3. In the HTML tab for your content, click the HTML < > button in the bottom left corner of the content window. This changes the view to show you the HTML code for this content.
    4. Paste the code you copied above into this section of the content.
    5. Click the Pencil icon in the lower left corner to return to the design mode and see the result.
    6. When you’ve finished, click OK to save and exit or Apply to save and stay.
    7. To test this email, click the Test Email icon in the Content window and send a copy of this email to yourself. You can click the button to confirm that the button links to the page you had intended.

    Additional Information:

Inserting the HTML code that is required for this functionality means that you will need to be able to view the actual HTML code for the email or website that you create. Many programs (such as Microsoft Outlook) do not allow you to easily access the web code associated with an HTML email, and therefore the steps outlined above will not work in these external email programs.
